The style of yoga taught is heart centered, alignment based, uplifting, life affirming and grounded in a strong and structured asana practice. Together we will explore yoga philosophy and how to put yoga into practice both on and ‘off the mat’. Yoga is a way of life and once embraced will challenge you on many levels and help you to become a more vibrant version of yourself. This Teacher Training Retreat will be a profound and transformative experience that will help embed and embody your yoga practice, this will have far reaching effects in your life. You will leave confident and excited to teach safely in your community. At the end you will be skilled and qualified to teach what you know with enthusiasm and joy.
Who can take part? This course is open to anyone who has at least a minimum of 1 year regular yoga practice/classes with a qualified and experienced teacher and importantly you must love yoga. An embodied understanding of the asana and good physical and mental health are the starting point More than anything, you need to be willing to work hard, be open minded and open hearted.
Preparation Upon successful application you will receive a pre-training work pack with reading assignments and other preparatory work.
Typical Daily itinerary (there will be occasional tea breaks & philosophy ‘walkabouts’) 7am - Breakfast 8am – 1pm – lecture/classes/practicum 1pm - 2.30pm – Lunch 2.30 – 6.30pm - lecture/classes/practicum 7pm – Dinner 8pm - We will have evening gathers (approx. 5) for presentations, public classes and similar. Other evenings will be free to catch up on reading and course work and of course rest! 10pm- Bed The schedule is subject to change
Exam - There will be short empowerment reviews throughout with 3 ‘one on one’ assessments with Noeleen. These reviews will guide you towards success in the final exam. This exam is both written (you can do it with the aid of your books/notes etc.) and practical including teaching a class and displaying an embodied understanding of safe alignment in the poses.
Certification Successful students will be awarded an Ard Nahoo Yoga School Level 1 certificate in yoga teaching.
Ard Nahoo is an Internationally registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance UK and US. Graduates from both our 200 hour programmes are eligible to register with either organisation and are qualified to teach all over the world.
What if I don’t pass? If in the event you are not ready for certification you will be offered further training and ‘one on one’ mentoring with Noeleen at a reduced rate.

Faculty Noeleen Tyrrell is the Director of Ard Nahoo Eco Retreat & Yoga School in the West of Ireland.
Voted ‘one of the top ten retreats worldwide’ by The Guardian in London she has been offering yoga classes, retreats and teachers trainings for more than 15 years. One of Irelands leading teacher trainers, Noeleens classes and trainings are inclusive and therapeutic with a great element of fun. Her teaching is very intuitive and each student is invited to bring their practice to a healing zone where they can witness the life changing transformation that the practice offers. She is one of the few registered Senior Yoga teachers in Ireland and is one of two Anusara Inspired teachers in the country. She has trained and continues training all over the world with her wonderful teachers to whom she is forever grateful. She is also a Registered Craniosacral therapist and massage therapist with almost 25 years in depth ‘hands on’ knowledge of the body which informs her teaching. She has been practicing yoga for almost half her life and is happily married with two sons. She enjoys singing, playing music, good food and company, oh and all things yoga!
Lauren Hensey Ray – (Meditation/Pregnancy Yoga/Vinyasa Yoga) Originally from Pennsylvania and Asheville, North Carolina Lauren has been living in Ireland since 2001. After a brief one year stay in Paris she moved to the west coast of Ireland almost 14 years ago. Yoga came into her life over twenty years ago in Asheville, North Carolina. After taking classes in the Iyengar and Kundalini Yoga traditions, she found Vinyasa Yoga in 1998. In May of 2000 she completed her training with Stephanie Keach of the Asheville Yoga Center, and has been teaching and training ever since. She has been blessed to study with prominent teachers such as Noah Maze, Deb Neubauer, Betsy Downing, Desiree Rumbaugh and many other respected yoga teachers. Lauren is also an Acupuncturist and Hypnobirthing practitioner with a practice in the West of Ireland where she lives with her husband and two beautiful children.
